Melbourne headwear specialist Avenel Hats will be promoting two new international brands when it hits the stands at Bags & Accessories Fair.
Avenel business manager Bruce Palmer confirmed the company had recently secured the exclusive Australian distribution rights to Irish brand Hanna Hats of Donegal and the European French Basque Beret brand. Made famous by ‘Dr Harry' (pictured left), Hanna Hats of Donegal are cut to patterns designed exclusively by the company and assembled by hand at its factory using premium, exclusive Donegal tweed.
Meanwhile, French Basque Berets were also characterised by a strong heritage and premium quality finish, Palmer said.
Established over four decades ago, Avenel's comprehensive range includes caps, trucker caps, fashion hats, beanies, scarves, gloves and visors, together with a large range of promotional headwear and apparel, and golf, bowls and sporting hats and caps. The company's wide array of high quality headwear includes its own Avenel branded product and sub-brands Boutique Blue (women's) and Red Dog (children's). Avenel also holds the Australian distribution rights to UK brand Failsworth Hats, and imports a substantial range of genuine Ecuadorean Panama hats.
Avenel's founding partners Norm Dobinson and Horrie Smith established the business in 1966, having worked with a leading headwear manufacturer in Flinders Lane, Melbourne. The second generation of the two families, comprising Stephen Dobinson and James Smith, has managed operations since Norm Dobinson's recent retirement.
Avenel Hats will showcase its ranges at Bags & Accessories Fair from 29-31 August at Melbourne Exhibition Centre.
